Remi Maritime Corp., a company of the Polemis Group, has been established since the 1960s. Polemis family has a history in the shipping business of 200 years maintaining a premium record of safety, operating excellence and performance.

The company, based in Piraeus represents a large group of shipping interests. There are two other offices representing the group, one in London, Seacrest Shipping Co Ltd, and in New York, Belmar Agencies, representing the groups’ interests in the U.S.A.

The group’s management has been actively involved in the activities of Lloyds of London Insurance Market and the Baltic Exchange and in various capacities and Directorships. The experience and expertise gained in this field has been extremely valueble. Also the management has beem involved on the board or as chairman of many of the major International Associations, such as INTERCARGO, ICS, UGS, GSCC, American Bureau Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, Bureau Veritas, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, North of England P&I, The Hellenic War Risk Association and others. Spyros M. Polemis was recently voted as chairman of ICS and ISF.

Remi Maritime has been certified under the IMO regulations for ISM (International Safety Management), while Seacrest has also achieved the ISO 9002 certification since 1997. The group has also been registered with the U.S. Coast Guard for oil pollution preparedness under the OPA ‘90 regulations and other local U.S. regulations apart from the overall International regulations required for trading vessels they represent.

The fund intends to capitalize on its management team’s reputation and high standards of performance, reliability and safety, and levevage the strong relationships with major international charterers, many of whom consider the reputation of a vessel owner and operator when entering into time charters.

Using the experience gained, the group strives to limit downtime of the vessels by maintaining an efficient operation.

A strict schedule of preventative maintenance is followed to ensure trouble-free operation for the number of years the group trades a vessel. The performance of the vessel, the routeing and the efficiency of the execution of the voyages, are monitored by experienced personnel and analysed with the aid of computer software in order to minimise voyage and maintenance costs, thereby maximising revenue.

As a tanker operator, with directors involved in related organisations the group has kept abreast of regulations, being also involved in their creation. As a result of a quality approach to shipping the group has a very good track record and reputation.
